Carolyn Shattuck

Biography

Carolyn Shattuck was born in Montreal and moved to the United States in 1971. When she and her husband were transferred to Okinawa, Japan, she became influenced by the history and beauty of the Japanese prints she saw there. She studied painting at Bard College. She divides her time between painting, a printing/collage method, and book arts. Her books can be seen in numerous University Special Book Collections including The Smithsonian.

Learn to Make Dragon Books, Flutter Books and Pop-up Books

Students will learn several folding structures including the Dragon book, Flutter book and the Turkish Map Folding. No experience is necessary.
Participants should bring scissors or exacto knife, glue stick , ruler, bone folder or dull knife for scoring.
