Biography

Peter Orner is a Pushcart Prize winning author of two novels, four story collections and an essay collection that was also a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. His latest work, Still No Word from You: Notes in the Margin is also a 2022 Vermont Book Award nominee. Peter’s work has appeared in the New York Times, the Atlantic Monthly, The Paris Review, The New Yorker, McSweeney’s, The Southern Review, Ploughshares and many others. Peter has been awarded the Rome Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Lannan Foundation Literary Fellowship. Peter holds the Professorship of English and Creative Writing at Dartmouth College and regularly teaches at Warren Wilson College. He’s a graduate of the University of Michigan, Northeastern University School of Law, and the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Peter is also a member of the Norwich Fire Department, Norwich, Vermont and lives with his family in Norwich.
