Benjamin Aleshire grew up in Cuttingsville, VT. For many years he made a living by traveling the world as a poet-for-hire, composing poems for strangers in the streets of Paris, New Orleans, Havana, London, and Madrid. His writing has appeared in The Times of London, Southern Review, Iowa Review, Literary Hub, and on television in the U.S., China, and Spain. Among his clients are Jimmy Page, Tracy K. Smith, Bernie Sanders, Shakespeare & Co, and Princeton University. His debut ms. POEMS FOR BYSTANDERS has been a finalist for prizes from Alice James, Sarabande, and Four Way Books, and Ben’s work has received support from VT Studio Center, Bread Loaf, VT Arts Council, and NYU.
