Join author and Yankee food editor Amy Traverso as she takes you on a journey through the world of apples, from their earliest origins to the global stage.

She’ll talk about heirloom varieties, new breeds, and why apples are truly the all-American fruit. She’ll also demonstrate how to make a quick and easy apple-cucumber pickle. In addition to her work for the magazine, Amy is co-host of the WGBH series Weekends with Yankee. Previously, she was food editor at Boston magazine and an associate food editor at Sunset magazine. Her work has also been published in The Boston Globe,, and Travel & Leisure, and she has appeared on The Martha Stewart Show, Throwdown with Bobby Flay, and Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. Traverso is the author of The Apple Lover’s Cookbook, which was a finalist for the Julia Child Award for best first-time author and won an IACP Cookbook Award in the “American” category. Traverso lives in the Boston area and is a graduate of Smith College.
