Rolf Diamant, Nora Mitchell

Rolf Diamant and Nora Mitchell, residents of Woodstock, have enjoyed multifaceted careers working with national parks across the United States and abroad. They are co-editors and co-authors of A Thinking Person’s Guide to America’s National Parks published in 2016 on the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. In the book’s 23 essays, illustrated with more than 350 color photographs, authors with deep personal and professional connections to the parks take you on a journey of discovery through the ideas that unite the hundreds of national parks into a single system that is the cornerstone of America’s heritage. Rolf and Nora will talk about researching and writing a book for people intrigued by the astonishing diversity of America’s national park system —who seek a deeper understanding of these places, their stories, and some of the key challenges they face.
