Naturalist, nature photographer, environmental educator and author Mary Holland resides in Hartland, Vermont. She has worked for the Massachusetts Audubon Society, the Vermont Institute of Natural Science and the Vermont Center for Ecostudies. She is the author of Naturally Curious: A Photographic Field Guide and Month-by-Month Journey Through the Woods, Fields and Marshes of New England which won the 2011 National Outdoor Book Association award. A sequel, Naturally Curious Day by Day, will be released this fall. Holland’s children’s books include Milkweed Visitors (winner of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Best Books, 2006; Ferdinand Fox’s First Summer (NSTA, Outstanding Science Trade Book; Moonbeam-Children’s Book Award); The Beavers’ Busy Year; Animal Eyes; Animal Mouths (2016 ILA Children’s Choice list; 2016 NSTA, Outstanding Science Trade Book); Animal Feet & Legs, to be released this fall). Mary will be reading Animal Mouths to young (4 – 8 years) children at Bookstock.
