Creating a New Season at Northern Stage. For three years, Carol Dunne, the Producing Artistic Director at Northern Stage, has assembled a six-play season, launched a successful new works program and reimagined and implemented an expansive educational program. At Bookstock, Dunne and Eric Bunge, the Managing Director, will describe the hugely complex job of creating the 2016-17 season, ranging from Macbeth to Mamma Mia. They select plays, buy their rights, audition actors, and hire directors, scenic, sound, lighting and costume designers. Dunne and Bunge also deal with budgets, the logistics of housing actors, and fund raising. Dunne has an extensive career as an actor, singer, teacher and director of scores of productions, having served as Artistic Director of the New London Barn Playhouse.
Bunge, also an accomplished actor, founded and directed the Commonweal Theater in Lanesboro, MN, and built its new theater. With the direction of its board, contributions from generous donors and the leadership of Dunne and Bunge, the stunning $7.5 million state-of-the art Barrette Theater in White River Junction was built in 53 days, under budget, opening last October to stellar reviews. Dunne and Bunge will offer a lively and informative view of all what enables Northern Stage to “change lives one story at a time.”
