Benjamin Aleshire travels the world as a poet-for-hire, composing poems for strangers on a manual typewriter. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Iowa Review, Boston Review, and many others. Recently he was featured in El Mundo, in Spain, and on SinoVision TV, in China. A Vermont native from Cuttingsville, he is now based in New Orleans. In 2016 he was a finalist for the Iowa Review Award, and was selected as a waiter-scholar at Breadloaf. Ben is a recipient of a Creation Grant from the Vermont Arts Council, the Chighizola Prize from the University of New Orleans, and residencies at the BCA Center in Burlington, and at Künstlerhaus Vorwerk-Stift in Hamburg. His artist-book of visual poems, Currency, is now available through Honeybee Press, a traditional book-arts cooperative. He works for the Green Mountain Review.
